HOLIDAY ON ICE 30.1. - 1.2. 2009

FIRE and WATER, EARTH and AIR, for over two thousand years these four powerful ingredients have made up the elements of nature and are the base of modern Eastern philosophy.

In the 65th season the Holiday on Ice traditions goes on to present themes in spectacular Live Ice Entertainment. Professional ice figure skating and acrobatics of a 45 people ensemble, 350 handmade costumes, fascinating light effects are the building blocks for a wonderful show experience.

Every scene is inspired by one of the elements: FIRE, WATER, EARTH and AIR and brings the audience from dawn in Asia, through the Celtic Reel; to a Chinese firework festival and explores the beauty of the native American Pow Wow.

This production features an award winning set design by Bart Clement, costumes by David Shields and music by Maurice Luttikhuis. Directed by Robin Cousins MBE and choreographed by Karen Kresge.

Show
• The show contains 6 show trucks and 2 times 2 ice trucks.
• SPIRIT has 2 acts, the first acts takes 46 minutes and the second act takes 51 minutes.
• Innovation sound and light with the latest show technology
• The chorus skaters of SPIRIT skate between 6 and 8 km per show, depending on the size of the ice in each venue.
• There are about 350 costumes presented in SPIRIT.
• The principals of SPIRIT change their costumes 5 to 6 times and the chorus skaters 8 to 10 times per show.
• In SPIRIT, the costume changes takes from 30 seconds to 5 minutes for chorus skaters.
• In SPIRIT, the principals perform 2 to 4 different characters per show. Chorus skaters perform from 7 to 9 different characters in SPIRIT.
• For pairs, the most dangerous stunt in the show is the ankle spin, for solo skaters the back flip and for flying acts just about any trick they do.

Cast & Crew
• The cast comprises 42 skaters: 8 principals and 34 ensemble skaters: 23 girls and 11 boys.
• The cast, crew and staff  is a travelling team of 62 people.
• The travelling personnel (artistes, staff and technicians) represents a community of 18 different nationalities.
